KRS-ONE "Disaster Kit"

By Ralo

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy the New York Tri-State area is still recovering from an exceptional amount of flooding, wind damage, power outages and even lose of life. Parts of New Jersey were completely devastated by the strength of wind and rain. Parts of Brooklyn and Long Island were also hard hit by flood damage and down power lines. Many residents went without power for as much as two weeks. In some places the power outages lasted past the two week mark.

The Hudson River came over onto The Westside Highway. Some subway stations were so flooded that the water was up to the ceiling and in some cases came out onto the sidewalk.

For years we have been hearing about the concept of preparedness. Aton Edwards of The International Preparedness Network has been spreading the message for some time now. His website, readyforanything.org is committed to spreading the word about what is needed when a natural or man made disaster strikes.

KRS-ONE acting as a lyrical Aton Edwards, explains perfectly what is needed to be prepared in the event of an extreme, extended emergency on "Disaster Kit". Chuck D says "Disaster Kit" is a perfect example of what a rap record can do.

"Disaster Kit was produced by long time KRS-ONE affiliate, Mad Lion. This is the first collaboration between Mad Lion and KRS in many years, the result is phenomenal.
