De La Soul, Dj Premier and Pete Rock to Drop a new mixtape in September

De La Soul, Dj Premier and Pete Rock to Drop a new mixtape in September

Source: XXLmag
Earlier this year, both De La Soul and Pete Rock confirmed that a new project, set to be called Premiem Soul On The Rockswas in the works which would be entirely produced by both Rock and DJ Premier. Originally scheduled to be an EP, the collection will now take the form of a mixtape, which the famed Long Island trio consisting of Posdnous, Dave and Maseo will begin working on this September.
“Right now we’re just accumulating beats,” Dave told XXL in a phone interview earlier today (Aug. 4). ”The guys have been sending us beats. No real idea of what the theme is gonna be, the theme behind the title, what that’s gonna be, if it’s gonna be skits, if it’s gonna be songs, remakes, whatever it is. Right now we’ve just been accumulating beats and waiting for Premier to handle some stuff as well. So it’s still in its early stages, but we actually plan on recording through the month of September for it, so we’re getting on it.”

De La Soul has been keeping busy throughout 2014, which also marks the 25th anniversary of the group’s debut album, 3 Feet High And Rising, a milestone that came in March. The month prior, on Valentine’s Day, De La released their entire back catalog for free via Dropbox. The promotion proved so wildly popular that Dropbox actually crashed twice, causing the group to apologize to fans. A second project, Smell The D.A.I.S.Y., followed a month later via BitTorrent, and was composed of a mixtape using all J Dilla beats, an audio letter from the trio and a documentary film titled Dilla Still Shining, all in one bundle. They followed that by releasing 100 limited-edition vinyl instrumental copies of the Dilla tape to record stores around the country on Easter, positing the move as an Easter Egg hunt for fans.

THE PETE ROCK ROY AYERS TRIBUTE MIX AND EXCLUSIVE T-SHIRT

Pete Rock Roy Ayers Tribute and T Shirt-Offthecorner_net
Pete Rock was first asked to perform in a Roy Ayers tribute by Robert Glasper in 2009 and he was very much humbled and honored to be a part of the ROy Ayers legacy. They blew the roof off the place when they performed it in NYC and in the summer of 2011 the duo decided to tour Europe performing jazz, soul and hip-hop from London to Rotterdam. This is where the Roy Ayers & Pete Rock tee was born.

9TH WONDER AND PETE ROCK - "CLASS IS IN SESSION"

9TH WONDER AND PETE ROCK - CLASS IS IN SESSION

While searching for unreleased Pete rock beats i came across this unreleased album that came out in 2007. What i learned was that a session went down when LB & 9th Wonder linked with Pete Rock & Marley Marl for the first time in Pete Rock's basement. Some of these beats created were later given to various artists like such as CL Smooth , Little Brother, ED O.G. and L.E.G.A.C.Y.

So sit back, and enjoy the music from these 2 Chairmen Of The Boards.

Pete Rock - #80BlocksFromTiffanysPt2 Drops tommorow

By Ralo
Camp Lo is best known for their 1997 album "Uptown Saturday Night", which was released on Profile Records. It spawned their Billboard charting hit, "Luchini" also known as "This Is It". It featured a sample from Dynasty called "Adventures In The Land Of Music". This punchy horn sample was backed by the kind of deep kicks and hard snares Camp Lo is now known for. This made for a timeless classic from the Bronx natives.

Group members, Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede have mastered an abstract style that is all their own. Lyrically their words gallop over tracks, with flows only Camp Lo could invent. Their unique production and carefully crafted lyrics set them apart from the rest of the fray.

They returned in 2002 with their sophomore album "Let's Do It Again", which was exceptional, but it was not  met with the same fanfare as their first album. It was a very slept on album with hot joints like "Gothca", "Glow" and "Black Connect ll", which all had the Camp Lo stamp of quality.

They have since done a handful of albums and mixtapes, not the least of which is "80 Blocks From Tiffanys", with super Producer Pete Rock in 2011.

Now, Camp Lo has collaborated with Pete Rock again to do a sequel- "80 Blocks From Tiffanys Pt2." The new "Tiffanys includes guest vocal appearances from Talib Kweli, Ab-Soul and Mac Miller. This latest mixtape is already considered on of the best Hip-Hop endeavours of the year.
